Moss Side groups invited to apply for funds

Moss Side has been selected as one of 600 areas in England to receive Community First funding and local groups are being invited again to apply for funds for community activities in Moss Side, Manchester. Each group can apply for up to £1,000 but there is nothing to stop groups combining their efforts.

Residents at Tyldesley Street organised a street party to celebrate the Olympics and get to know their neighbours from Greenheys development. The community secured a cash grant from Manchester City Council and a donation from Mosscare in the total of £450 to fund the celebration.

Mosscare took part in the Pride Parade over the bank holiday - Saturday 25 August. Staff from Mosscare, Affinity Sutton, Eastlands Homes, Guinness Northern counties and Your Housing group, along with tenants, joined the parade and travelled on a float. We are very proud to announce that the group won the prize for best costume!
Our Moss Side at the Caribbean Carnival

Our Moss Side took part in Manchester’s Caribbean Carnival on Saturday, 11 August 2012. Teams from Mosscare, Adactus, Arawak Walton, Great Places, City South and Manchester City Council were at the Our Moss Side stand in Alexandra Park and gave out hundreds of cups of fruit to promote healthy living.

We are holding our first Hate Crime awareness week on the 13th – 17th August 2012. The purpose of this event is to raise awareness amongst staff, tenants, members of the public and our board members about the consequences of Hate Crime in the community, and how to prevent it.
