Mosscare's Supported Housing
Mosscare work in partnership with a number of specialist providers of care and support, to provide various types of accommodation for groups of people with particular kinds of needs. Often the accommodation is provided for people with high levels of needs.
Mosscare have provided specialist accommodation for over 20 years, and provides property that has been developed specifically for the client group, and properties that have been refurbished.
Below are examples of schemes that Mosscare provide, and the partnerships that have been developed.
- Mosscare provide 3 refuges for women escaping domestic violence,in Manchester. These are provided in partnership with Manchester Women’s Aid, and with groups providing help and support for women from Black And Minority Ethnic Communities.
- 15 properties for Tameside Council, for people with Learning Disabilities. These properties allow people to live together in small groups, and are a mixture of two, three and four bedroom houses and bungalows. A number of the properties are specially adapted to the meet the need of residents.
- A specially developed and adapted scheme for Manchester Social Services in Chorlton, for people with physical disabilities, to enable independent living. A unit providing respite care has also been developed.
- 6 Properties are provided for Manchester Social Services Learning Disability Teams, to allow independent living for people with a learning disability, in small groups. The properties are in the North and South areas of Manchester.
- 6 Flats are provided to Manchester Settlement, an organisation working with young people, to provide young people with their first experience of independent living, with appropriate support.A partnership has also been developed with The Settlement and Mancat college to provide 2 flats, with support for young students in housing need.
- A 6 bedroom property in West Didsbury, which is shared by people with a learning disability.
- A 4 bedroom property provided for Norwood Trust in Stockport, for people with a learning disability to share and live independently, with support.
Physical Disabilities schemes in Openshaw and Gorton
We have a scheme in Gorton in association with Manchester Social Services Physical Disabilities Service. These 10 x 1 bedroom bungalows on a secure site have been specifically designed to comply with DDA requirements and are for people with complex physical disabilities.
Openshaw has a scheme consisting of 3 x 1 bedroom and 2 x 2 bedroom bungalows for people with an acquired brain injury. This is also in partnership with Manchester Social Services.
Tenants at both of these schemes will have an individual support package tailored to meet their needs.
There is also a 3rd scheme for which development due to begin on site early this year .
